Instructions
Check the batteries. If these are out of charge, the controller light will not come on, and the batteries will have to be replaced. Also check to make sure the batteries are inserted correctly according to the diagram inside the battery compartment.
Make sure the battery pack is fully inserted into the controller. You should push it into the controller until it locks, requiring you to push in the battery pack tab to remove it.
Hold down the Xbox guide button for at least two seconds. If you only tap this button, the controller may not turn on.
Position the console so that the front of it is facing the wireless controller. Keep both the controller and the Xbox 360 at least three feet away from objects such as refrigerators and file cabinets. Large metal objects can affect the controller's operation.
Move closer to the Xbox 360. The controller may be out of range.
Synchronize the controller to the console if you haven't already done so. If a controller is not synced, the player indicator light will not light up. Instead, the lights on the controller will blink. Press the sync button on the Xbox 360 console. This is located near the memory unit slots. Next, press the sync button on the top of the controller. The lights around the guide button should stop blinking, and the player indicator light should remain lit.
