Things You'll Need
Instructions
Accessing the Xbox Hard Drive
Discharge any static electricity by wearing a static wrist guard, or touching something metal before working on either hard drive.
Press the button at the bottom of the Xbox hard drive, and pull it out.
Turn it upside down (connection pointing up) and remove the Microsoft sticker. Removing the sticker will reveal a hidden screw.
Remove all four screws (one near each corner) with a Torx T-6 screwdriver, and pull the two pieces apart gently.
Unscrew each of the four screws you see on this level with a Torx T-10 screwdriver and remove the cover from the hard drive.
Pull the cable out of the socket, and slide the 2.5-inch hard drive out of its cradle. About halfway through removing the hard drive from the cradle, you'll appear to be stuck. Lift the metal casing gently while sliding the hard drive to remedy this problem.
Connecting to Your Computer
Plug the S-ATA cable into the Xbox hard drive.
Plug the USB cable (the other end of your S-ATA cable) into a USB port on your computer.
Download and install Xplorer360. Installation is as simple as following the on-screen prompts.
Open Xplorer360 and select the location of your drive from the menu. Generally your drive will be called "USB Device" but it varies depending on the computer.
