How to Connect an Xbox 360 to a Wireless Modem

By connecting your Xbox 360 to an online network, you access a lot of great content that isn&'t available offline. You can play games against people around the world, download new content for your existing games, download new games or even stream movies from Netflix. In order to get online, you need an existing Internet account with an Internet Service Provider. You can connect your Xbox 360 to a wired or wireless network, depending on your preference.

      Activate your wireless network. Ensure that your wireless network is online and active. The lights on your wireless modem or router should be green.

      Connect the wireless adapter to your Xbox 360. Snap the wireless adapter into the two small slots on the back of your console. Slide the wireless adapter cable into the I/O slot just beneath the two slots. Place the antennae in the upright position.

      Turn on the Xbox and go to System tab. If you have an unsecured network, your Xbox connects automatically. If you have a secure network, use the controller to reach the System tab. Choose "Network Settings."

      Edit the Network Settings. Choose "Edit." Select your wireless network from the Basic Settings tab. Once selected, enter your WEP security key or network password. Apply the settings.

      Test your connection. From the Network Settings menu, choose to test your Xbox LIVE connection. The Xbox attempts to connect to the network and reach the Xbox servers. This ensures that your connection has been set up correctly.
