How to Share Files on Media Player 11 With an Xbox 360

Windows Media Player 11 is a version of Microsoft&'s popular digital media program that allows users to play back media files, listen to Internet radio and burn CDs, among other things. The program is compatible with the Xbox 360 video game console. After setting up Windows Media Player 11 to share files, the Xbox 360 can stream media to your television screen just as if you were using the program from your computer.

Instructions

      Turn on your computer and open Windows Media Player 11.

      Select "Library," and then choose "Media Sharing." A pop-up window will appear where you can enable file sharing.

      Enable the "Share my media" option in the pop-up window, and then click "OK" to save the settings.

      Connect your Xbox 360 to either your PC or router via Ethernet cable. If you use a router, make sure the PC is also connected to the router, either wirelessly or via Ethernet cable.

      Go to Windows Media Player on your PC and open the "Media Sharing" pop-up window again.

      Click the "Xbox 360" icon in the "Share my media to" section.

      Click "Allow," and then confirm the action by clicking "OK." This allows Windows Media Player 11 to share files with the Xbox 360.
