How to Transfer Data Between Two Xbox 360s Via an Ethernet Cable

Connecting two Xbox 360 consoles to one another with an Ethernet cable can be useful because it allows the two consoles to exchange data for the purposes of gaming. For example, "Halo 3" is a first-person shooter game that up to four people can play as long as each system has a copy of the game and as long as the consoles are connected to each other with an Ethernet cable. If you wish to connect two Xbox 360 consoles together, the process is simple.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 copies of an Xbox 360 game (must support System Link)
  • 2 Xbox 360s
  • Ethernet cable

Instructions

    • 1

Place a copy of the Xbox 360 game into the disc tray of each console.

    • 2

Connect one end of your Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the back side of one of your consoles. This port is located beneath the HDMI port, to the right of the A/V cable port.

    • 3

Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the port on the back of your other console.

    • 4

Turn both consoles on and begin playing the game.

    • 5

Select the "Multiplayer" option on both games, then select the "System Link" option. Whichever console selects the "System Link" option first will become the host server for the game. You now will be able to play the same game on both consoles.
