How to Make Backups of Xbox Video Games

An Xbox 360 video game disc suffers the same problems as a DVD or CD in that it will not work properly if it becomes scratched. You can make a backup of your legally owned Xbox 360 game discs using a computer and software programs. The backup game disc then can be played on modified Xbox 360s, while the original is put away for safekeeping.

Instructions

- 1
  Download a game disc copy program to the desktop of the computer. Double-click on the program once it has downloaded. Follow the menu commands to install the program on the computer's hard drive.

  Download a game disc burn program to the desktop of the computer. Double-click on the program once it has downloaded. Follow the menu commands to install the program on the computer's hard drive.

  Restart your computer.

  Double-click on the icon of the game disc copy program to launch it.

  Eject the disc tray of the DVD drive. Place the Xbox 360 video game disc onto the disc tray. Close the disc tray.

  Click the "Start" button on the game disc copy program. Wait for the icon of the Xbox 360 video game disc to appear on the program.

  Click the icon of the DVD that appears in the left column of the game disc copy program.

  Click the "Search" button at the top of the game disc copy program.

  Wait for a new screen to appear with a series of numbers listed on it. Write down the numbers that are listed inside of the "DVD number" column.

  Click on the "Start Dump" button on the screen.

  Navigate in the window that appears to the desktop of the computer. Enter the numbers you have written down in the "DVD number" column on the window. Click the "Save" button at the right corner bottom of the window to close the window

  Wait as the Xbox 360 video game disc is copied as a file to the desktop. Quit the game disc copy program once the file has been saved.

  Double-click on the icon of the game disc burn program to launch it.

  Eject the disc tray of the DVD drive. Remove the Xbox video game disc. Place the blank recordable DVD disc into the disc tray. Close the disc tray.

  Select the DVD drive from the "Devices" drop-down menu on the game disc burn program. Click on the "Boot" checkbox on the game disc burn program.

  Drag the file that was saved to the desktop onto the icon of the game disc burn program. The icon is on the desktop or in the Dock to the left or at the bottom of the screen.

  Name the Xbox 360 video game disc copy that is about to to be made with the same name as the original in the "Name" column at the top of the game disc burn program.

  Click the "Burn" or "Start" button on the game disc burn program. Quit the game disc burn program once the Xbox 360 video game disc copy has been burned.

  Eject the disc tray of the DVD drive. Remove the Xbox 360 video game disc copy. Close the disc tray.
