In order to access these features, a player needs to connect the Xbox 360 system to a broadband internet connection. Using a wireless router is one method of connecting to a broadband internet connection.

Connecting to Xbox Live with a Wireless Router

  Connect a Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter to your Xbox 360. These adapters can be purchased in any retail store that sells Xbox 360 products. The adapter connects to the Xbox 360 in the back using the system's USB port.

  Turn on your Xbox 360 and select the "Networking" menu. Select "Wireless Connection" in that menu.

  Select your wireless router from the menu that will pop up. Make sure your wireless router is turned on, as otherwise it will not show up on the screen.

  Input any passwords that you may have previously assigned to your wireless router. If you do not use passwords to protect your wireless router, you will not need to perform this step. Either way, your Xbox 360 will connect to Xbox Live with the wireless router--congratulations!
