Connect The Xbox To Your Router
Turn off your router and remove the power source from your modem.
Insert one end of the Ethernet cable into an open port on your router, and then insert the other end into the port located on the back of the console.
Return the power to your modem and router. Ensure that you have a stable and consistent connection, and that all cables are securely in place.
Turn on your Xbox and wait for the welcome page to load. Under the "My Xbox" category, go to "System Settings", then "Network Settings."
Open the "Configure Network" option and check your IP and DNS settings. Set them to "Automatic" if they aren't already set that way. Save these settings, then turn off your Xbox.
Configure Your Router
Consult your hardware's manual or documentation to find its IP address. Alternatively, you can open a command prompt window and type "iconfig /all" to find it on the line marked "Default Gateway."
Go to your router's configuration menu by typing the IP address into the URL bar of your preferred Internet browser. Log in using the username and password you were given when you first set up the router through your PC.
Navigate the configuration page and ensure that ports 53, 80, 88, and 3074 are all open. This should bypass any problems created by your NAT (network address translation) type.
Set your MTU (maximum transmission units) to "automatic" or any variable higher than 1364. Anything lower will prevent you from connecting to Xbox Live.
Turn on your Xbox and sign into your gamer profile. Your console should now automatically connect itself to your network by way of the router.
