How Do I View X264 Files on 360?

The Xbox 360 video game console supports media playback of many different formats and codecs, including X264 files. When you connect the Xbox 360 to your computer, you can play the X264 files on your television. You'll have to set up media sharing between the computer and your console before streaming any of the media between the two devices. You only need to perform the setup process once. After the setup you're free to share all of your computer's media with the video game console.

  Go to your computer and open an Internet browser. Navigate to "xbox.com/pcsetup." Click the "Setup" button on this page to install the appropriate software for Xbox 360 media sharing.

  Click "Next" and "Run." Wait for the installation package to add the software to your computer. Click "Finish" to complete this process.

  Connect the computer to the Ethernet port located on the back of the Xbox 360. Press the "Up" button on the Xbox 360 controller to get to the "Media" section.

  Use the controller to navigate to the X264 files on your console. Press the "X" button to load a particular media file on your Xbox 360.
