How to Configure a D-Link Router for Xbox Live

To get the best connection for Xbox Live it is necessary to configure your router in a specific way. If you are using a D-Link router for your Xbox Live connection, there are two important settings that must be configured. Those settings are UPnP and NAT filtering. If you don't configure these settings, your Xbox Live connection won't be as stable and it may take longer for you to be accepted into online matches.

  Open your web browser, type "192.168.0.1" into the address bar, and then enter your user name and password to log in to your D-Link router's configuration utility.

  Open the "Advanced" tab and click on "Firewall Settings" in the navigation pane.

  Select "Endpoint Independent" next to the "UDP Endpoint Filtering" and "TCP Endpoint Filtering" options in the "NAT Endpoint Filtering" section of the page. Click "Apply."

  Click on "Advanced Network" in the navigation pane and check the "Enable UPnP" check box. Click "Apply" to save your settings. Your D-Link router has now been configured for Xbox Live.
