Good Video Games for a Thirteen-Year-Old Girl

Video games are fun for children of all ages. Among the popular game systems available, all have a selection of games that might be appropriate for your 13-year-old girl. If the girl doesn't like playing her brother's combat and racing video games, try one of the many games designed for a female audience.

Xbox 360 and Kinect
- Appropriate games for the Microsoft Xbox system include "Dance Central," which is available for the Xbox Kinect system; it lets girls dance alone or with friends. "Barbie's Horse Adventures" and "Viva Pinata" are also ideal for 13-year-old girls. In "Viva Pinata," players turn a dump into a garden. "Fable, the Lost Chapters" is an adventure game for Xbox that includes fairies and princesses, giving girls an action game designed for them.

- A popular game, licensed by Disney and available only for PSP, is "Hannah Montana: Rock Out the Show." In this game, players help Hannah sing 11 of her hits in different cities. Another game 13-year-old girls might like is "Little Big Planet," in which players customize theatrical stages and the characters on the stages.

- "The Daring Game for Girls," available for Nintendo Wii, lets girls play adventures in three environments with lots of mini-game challenges to earn gear, inventory and collectibles. Games include freeze tag, double dutch, basketball and cave exploring. "Hannah Montana 3," "American Girl: Julie Finds a Way" and "Let's Ride: Friends Forever" are time management and action games for Nintendo DS suitable for 13-year-old girls.

- "Harvest Moon Back to Nature" and "Dance Dance Revolution" are two popular games suitable for 13-year-old girls. "Girl Zone" is a side-scroll game filled with swimming and fashion adventures. Another game, "Sims: Bratz," is part of the popular "Sims" series that many 13-year-old girls find enjoyable.
