How to Transfer Xbox Live Arcade Games

After purchasing games from the Xbox Live Marketplace, you do not want to lose them if you get a new Xbox 360 and hard drive. If you ever have to replace both items, Microsoft has a way to transfer your licenses (proof of your ownership) from the old system to the new one just by using your Live account. You do not have to worry about possibly losing or repurchasing your games.

Instructions

  Power on the new Xbox connected to your TV.

  Open a Web browser on a computer and navigate to the Xbox Content License Migration page (See Resources).

  Click "Start the license transfer process now" link.

  View your current licenses. This includes all your game and video purchases. Click "Next."

  Log in to Xbox Live on the new Xbox and then click "Next" on the computer.

  Click "Confirm" after viewing the licenses that will be transferred.

  Click "Finish" to complete the transfer portion.

  Click "My Account" and then "Purchase History" at the top of the Xbox website.

  Add all of your recently transferred games to the system by clicking "Add to Queue."

  Sign into Xbox Live again on your Xbox to begin downloading the games automatically.
