How to Update the MS Dashboard

Updating the MS Dashboard on your Xbox 360 enables you to install important bug fixes and upgrades. Without installation, you may encounter functionality problems. You will also be able to browse the Microsoft Xbox store without lag time, rip your favorite games from their disks to your Xbox, download and watch Netflix Instant movies and show and check your Microsoft Outlook email. Not updating your dashboard to the latest version could interfere with your Internet capabilities.

  Hook your Xbox 360 to your broadband connection and allow it to shut down and restart.

  Connect to the Xbox Live feature through the Marketplace. You need to have a valid Live Community profile in order to login. Create a community profile if you have not done so already.

  Log in to your Live Community profile by selecting "Join Live" from the console dashboard.

  Select "Yes" when you receive a prompt from the Live Community to "Update Your Dashboard." Future updates will automatically download whenever you log into your Live Community profile.
