  Redeem any Xbox Live trials that come with your console system. Many systems now come with up to three 1-month trials. To redeem, your gamertag must be new. Simply choose to buy a new Gold membership when you log on, and click the link to redeem the free trial.

  Purchase games that contain free trial codes. These specially marked games will be Xbox Live compatible (such as Star Wars Battlefront) and include a code that must be redeemed online. Redeem by completing your new gamertag registration and entering your free trial code.

  Complete surveys and offers that allow you to redeem your "winnings" for Xbox Live points. Websites such as Gaming Lagoon and Boxed Deal will occasionally offer Xbox Live incentives.

  Enter contests on gaming sites and blogs to win Xbox Live memberships. Sites such as www.online-sweepstakes.com keep a list of which sites are currently running gaming contests and links to enter.
