How to Set Up Xbox Live Using a Wireless Bridge

A wireless bridge connects to your wireless network and has ports on the back for connecting to wired network devices. Adding a wireless bridge is a convenient way to add wired connections and expand your network's coverage area. Wired network devices, such as older Xbox 360 consoles, can benefit from adding a wireless bridge because you won't have to keep them within wired range of your router anymore. Use a wireless bridge to set up your Xbox Live connection farther away from your router.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the wireless bridge to your wireless network. To do so, plug in its power adapter and connect it to a computer via an Ethernet cable. Log in to its configuration utility through the computer (consult its included documentation if you need to) and type in the password for your wireless network. Log out of the configuration utility once it is connected.

Move the wireless bridge to a location near your Xbox 360 console and plug in its power adapter. Use an Ethernet cable to connect one of its network ports to your Xbox 360's network port. Turn on the wireless bridge; it will reconnect to your wireless network automatically.
