How to Customize Your Gamertag Picture on Xbox Live

Each Xbox Live gamertag has two pictures associated with it. The gamer picture is the image displayed to most users when they examine your gamer profile or see your gamertag in one of the menus. The personal picture is the image displayed to people on your Xbox Live friends list. By default, both pictures are identical. The customization options for the gamertag pictures are limited. Your only options are to select from a list of images or to take a picture with the Xbox Live Vision camera.

  Open the Xbox 360 menu. This menu automatically appears when you turn on the console. You can also return to this menu when playing a game. Press the ̶0;Xbox̶1; button on the controller to bring up the Guide menu. Press the ̶0;Y̶1; button when the Guide menu is displayed to return to the Xbox 360 menu.

  Choose your gamertag from the Xbox 360 menu. Your gamertag is the second option under the ̶0;My Xbox̶1; tab in the menu.

  Choose ̶0;Edit Gamer Profile̶1; from the gamertag menu. Choose ̶0;Gamer Picture̶1; from the options that appear.

  Choose ̶0;Change Gamer Picture̶1; or ̶0;Change Personal Picture̶1; to change your gamertag̵7;s gamer or personal picture. Selecting either option displays a menu with all of the available gamertag images. Choose the one you want to set as your gamertag image and press the A button to change it.

  Choose ̶0;Take Personal Picture̶1; to have the Vision camera take a picture. Confirm you want to use the picture taken by the camera to change your personal picture. You cannot use a camera picture as your gamer picture.
