Things You'll Need
Instructions
Clean the sign, using mild dishwashing detergent and water. Use a soft towel to buff away any dirt.
Purchase a can of acrylic enamel spray paint for your base. You can also use traditional acrylic enamel paint as well, but it is easier to avoid brush strokes and marks if you use spray paint or a paint gun. Shake the can for 30 seconds to 1 minute to mix. Hold the can 12 to 18 inches from the surface and spray a thin, even coat onto the sign. Repeat before 1 hour or after 6 hours. Allow to dry to the touch.
Dip a soft synthetic paint brush in a pot of acrylic enamel paint. Touch the brush to the surface of the sign; paint by moving the brush strokes toward you. This will help the enamel to adhere to the porcelain and will leave fewer brush strokes.
Repaint the sign, using only this brush stroke. Allow the paint to cure for 16 to 24 hours before handling the sign. Some acrylic enamels have extended drying times and may take up to 48 hours to dry.
