How to Search for Vintage Golf Balls

Collecting vintage or antique items is a popular hobby in the United States. Television shows such as "Antiques Roadshow" and "Pawn Stars" have further popularized antique collecting, while demonstrating how to date specific items such as paintings, sculptures and sports memorabilia. Vintage golf ball collectors have a few different places to go to try to add to their collection.

Instructions

    • 1

Keep an eye out for local estate sales, where many antique and vintage items are available. Expand your search to estate sales in neighboring counties for an opportunity to come across more vintage golf balls. A similar type of sale, yet on a smaller scale, is a garage sale. Most garage sales occur on weekends, so watch for signs posted in neighborhoods, or scan newspaper listings for upcoming events.

Peruse second-hand stores such as Goodwill and Salvation Army. Also, visit local antique shops to search for vintage golf balls. If you don't see any on display, ask the storekeeper whether he has any elsewhere. If he doesn't, ask him for suggestions of where you might be able to find vintage golf balls. Also, ask whether he knows of any upcoming antique auctions, especially ones where sports equipment and memorabilia may be on the auction block. Scan your newspaper listings for future antique auctions as well.

Log on to the Internet, and do a search for vintage golf balls on websites such as eBay or Craigslist. Check into various specialty golf websites, such as Antique Athlete (http://www.antiqueathlete.com) and The Golf Auction (http://www.thegolfauction.com).
