Determine as much as you can about the old wine bottle, such as what year is it from, what kind of condition is it in and how rare is it. The more facts you can gather about the bottle, the better you can determine its worth.
Search the Internet. If you were able to find out anything about the wine bottle, search the specific bottle online. From there you might be able to tell how rare it is or if the bottle is in demand.
Look on eBay and similar sites. Find similar old wine bottles and see what they are selling for.
Go to your library or book store. There are books about old wine bottles with pictures and values.
Email an appraiser. Describe the condition of the bottle, and send a picture if you can. The appraiser will be able to give you a general estimate based on a picture, likely for free.
Take the bottle to an antique appraiser in your area. The only way to get the exact worth of your old wine bottle is to have an expert examine it. He will be able to tell you what, if anything, your old wine bottle is worth.
