How to Polish With a Polishing Glove

Polishing metals, whether they are silver, brass or copper, can be difficult and time-consuming. Briefly polishing the metal items with a polishing glove each time the item is handled keeps it looking bright and reduces the time necessary for the task. Polishing gloves are commercially manufactured by a number of companies and are available at jewelry and other retail outlets and online.

Instructions

  Place the gloves on your hands whenever you handle the items you need to keep polished. This can include a simple dusting of displayed metal items or when placing silver serving pieces on the table for use.

  Rub each piece with a moderate pressure while handling. Rub hard enough to remove any fingerprints or other marks on the item. Rub the entire piece, including the underside and back surfaces. Set the item where desired after it has been rubbed.

  Keep the polishing gloves in a cool dry place between uses. The gloves are treated with chemicals that remove the tarnish that accumulates on the metal item.
