The Value of Royal Bayreuth China

The Royal Bayreuth factory was founded in Tettau in Bavaria in 1794, and as of 2010 continues to produce china. The stylised crest and word Bavaria remained relatively unchanged until about 1919, when the markings were generally changed to Germany or U.S. Zone.

    • Creamers--decorative jugs used for serving cream--were one of the most frequently produced formats of Royal Bayreuth's china. In December 2010, the antiques dealer website Kovels had more than 350 pieces of Royal Bayreuth creamers listed on its site. A 5-inch tall Royal Bayreuth creamer with a border depicting a cow scene was valued at $140 in 2004.

    Royal Bayreuth Ashtray Values

    • Royal Bayreuth Ashtrays are substantially less common than creamers, with only 35 listed on Kovels website, as of winter 2010. A Royal Bayreuth ashtray measuring 2 inches by 6 inches was valued at $295 in 2003. This piece depicted a figural elk.

    Royal Bayreuth Teapot Values

    • Kovels lists even less Royal Bayreuth teapots, with only 20 listed on the site in winter 2010. A Royal Bayreuth teapot was valued in 2001 at $115. This piece was only 3 ½ inches in diameter and was decorated in a spiky shell style with a white satin and shell finial finish.

    Royal Bayreuth Vase Values

    • Royal Bayreuth vases are one of the company's more common pieces, enjoying 105 listings on Kovels as of 2010. A vase depicting sirens bathing near a castle and a tapestry was valued at $200 in 2006. The vase was 6 ¼ inches in diameter.
