Things You'll Need
Instructions
Open the metal battery cover on the back of the clock. Wear a soft cotton gardening glove, the kind that is white and unsoiled. Turn the battery cover counterclockwise partway. On Cartier clocks with a screw in place, unscrew the front feet area to get to the clock batteries.
Remove old batteries carefully, making sure not to damage the clock. Write down the type of batteries, so you will know what to buy when replacing them. Take the batteries to a local store that specializes in clock parts, or to an electronics department within a mall, where they may be able to identify and install an old clock battery. You may need to place an order for antique Cartier clock replacement batteries.
Place the new batteries inside the clock just like the original. Have the clock restored and fixed if necessary.
Tighten the battery cover back into place with the screwdriver after the new batteries have been installed.
Check to make sure that the new clock batteries work. Listen for a ticking sound, and watch the hands on the clock face move. Update the clock once per year with new batteries.
