Flowers
The flowers in the Anchor Hocking design contain a double line around each line of the flower, including the petals, sub-petals and circular center. This is also known as "double Sandwich," according to Kathy Eickholt's National Depression Glass Association article. The Indiana Glass flowers' lines are marked by a single outline, creating a simple, clean look. Both flower patterns are round in shape with a central circle and stippling dots in the background surrounding the flower.
Swirls
Swirls between the flowers on the Anchor Hocking sandwich glass come together at the center of the swirl in the shape of a "V," that is wider on the top of the "V" facing the outside of the pattern. There is a three-pronged leaflet at the center pointing toward the outside as well. Indiana Glass swirls come together in the shape of an "M" that does not touch in the middle with a three-pronged leaflet pointing toward the center of the design between the two swirls to complete the look of an "M."
Color
Anchor Hocking produced the Sandwich pattern in crystal (clear), ruby red, forest green, amber, white and pink. Indiana Sandwich glass and the later Tiara reproductions are available in a "rainbow of colors" as described by Kathy Eickholt, including ruby, amber, "bicentennial" blue, crystal (clear), peach, "Chantilly" green, spruce and plum.
