How to Replace an Atomizer Ball & Hose

Part of the charm of antique perfume bottles lies in their extreme age, a factor which also directly contributes to their malfunction. Many antique perfume bottles have atomizer nozzles with a ball and hose, and you can't use an antique atomizer perfume bottle if either part has failed. If you find yourself with a beautiful but completely useless atomizer perfume bottle, you can easily replace the ball and hose and bring it back to working order.

Atomizer perfume bottle
Micrometer
Replacement ball and hose

  Remove the broken ball and hose by unscrewing the hose where it attaches to the atomizer nozzle.

  Measure the diameter of the threaded hose attachment nozzle with a micrometer. This is a device that uses a calibrated screw that is used to make precise measurements of small objects.

  Purchase a replacement ball and hose with screw-on end that is the same diameter as the bottle's threaded hose attachment nozzle. If possible, purchase a ball and hose from the same manufacturer to maintain the integrity of the antique.

  Attach the replacement ball and hose by screwing the threaded end of the hose onto the bottle's threaded hose attachment nozzle.
