How to Get a Magnetic Strip Out of My Ti-59

Texas Instruments' TI-59 programmable calculator entered the consumer market in 1977, at a cost of $299.95. The TI-59 used a 4-bit processor, nearly 1 kilobyte of internal memory and a built-in magnetic card reader. Optional equipment for the TI-59 included removable software modules, printer and magnetic memory strips designed to store up to 960 program steps. Properly inserting and removing a magnetic memory strip from your TI-59 will reduce the likelihood of damage or data corruption.

Instructions

    • 1

Power on the calculator using the "On/Off" switch on the top side of the housing, positioned above the display.

    • 2

Insert the magnetic card strip into the appropriately sized slot located on right side of the calculator, near the display screen. Be sure to insert the magnetic card into the calculator properly, with the "1" printed on the card positioned to the top left. The calculator will automatically draw the magnetic strip into the card reader.

    • 3

Remove the card from the left side of the calculator after the buzzer sounds off.
