How to Set the Time on a Waltham Pocket Watch

If your family has the tradition of passing down heirlooms watches, you have probably experienced the marvelous sense of having a priceless timepiece in your hands. You probably also know how fragile heirloom watches can be and how they must be treated with extreme care. A Waltham pocket watch is a clear example of a valuable timepiece that needs to be treated--and adjusted--with care.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the front bezel by carefully rotating it counterclockwise until it comes out. The front bezel is the metallic cover that protects the clock's hands from outside damage.

    • 2

Look for a lever that is near the 4 on the watch face. This lever allows you to take control of the clock's hands.

    • 3

Pull the lever out (pull gently, do not apply too much force).

    • 4

Use the winding crown to set the time. The winding crown is the rotating button used to change the time. It can be found on the back of the watch.

    • 5

Return the lever to its resting position when you finish, and replace the bezel.
