How to Decorate an Antique Corn Planter

Decorating an antique corn planter can add a down-on-the-farm look to your decor. An antique corn planter has a small storage box for the seed corn, making it easy to create a dried arrangement in the corn planter. The antique corn planter will retain its value, and add an interesting conversation piece to your home.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the antique corn planter, removing debris with a soft bristle brush or clean rag.

    • 2

Cut a piece of floral foam slightly wider than the opening of the corn planter seed container. The foam should fit firmly into the seed container opening.

    • 3

Push the cut floral foam into place, approximately 2 inches below the top of the seed container.

    • 4

Cut corn tassels and baby's breath approximately 8 inches long.

    • 5

Arrange the corn tassels and baby's breath by pushing the cut ends into the floral foam.

    • 6

Continue adding corn tassels and baby's breath until the seed container opening is filled.

    • 7

Cut a length of ribbon. Fold the ribbon into a bow.

    • 8

Attach the bow to the corn planter with florist wire.

    • 9

Bend a 6-inch section of wire into a loop. Attach the loop to the planter and use as a hanger.
