Antique Navajo Rugs for Sale
Determine the value according to the date, motif, and condition. Also determine the date of your Navajo rug. If a receipt or other evidence of an exact date is not available, consider secondhand facts such as where and when it was acquired and any anecdotal details. Without date information, you will need to compare your rug to other similar rugs. Look for similarities in design, colors, and knots. Evaluate the condition of your rug. Consider if the wear is consistent with regular use over time, or if it has signs of extreme use and minimal care.
Once you have an approximate date, name of the design, and notes about the condition, compare your Navajo rug to other similar rugs. If you can find an identical match, you will have an exact price to use. More likely, you will find similar but not identical rugs and you will need to estimate your rug's value by comparing features.
Consider your selling options: classified ads, local antique shop, online antique outlet. Classified ads can be placed in your local newspaper, on online sites like Craigslist, or on other print and online resources. Locally, you can sell your rug to an antique dealer, or you might rent space in an antique mall. Another option is an online antique mall where you create an online shop, complete with photos and descriptions of your rugs. As you determine which selling options to pursue, consider costs and convenience. For example, selling your rugs to an antique dealer may mean you make less money, but you do not have to create ads, answer emails, or pack and ship the rug.
Inform potential buyers about your Navajo rugs. Write detailed, interesting descriptions of your rugs. Other than selling your rug to an antique dealer, you will need to write customer-targeted descriptions. Provide all the details about each rug that you have. Put the most important information at the beginning of the description, with helpful but less pertinent information towards the end of the description. For online selling, take well-lit photos of your rugs from multiple angles. In addition to your descriptions, provide potential buyers with multiple ways to contact you: phone, email, and texting.
Provide excellent customer service. Answer all queries promptly. Offer to send additional photos. When someone purchases one of your antique Navajo rugs, ship it or deliver it promptly. Give them information about your other rugs and suggest they pass the information on to anyone else who might be interested in purchasing another of your antique Navajo rugs.
