History
Sessions clock company originated in 1831 as the Barns and Welch Company. The company made wooden movement shelf clocks until 1834.
Features
Sessions clocks have an inner spring mechanism that works in synchronized order with the outer mechanisms of the clock. The spring must be oiled at the pivot points once every three years with clock oil. It is a good idea to oil the gear wheels as well. Adjusting the time on the clock face after the spring and gears have been oiled is easily done by moving the minute hand counterclockwise on the hour. Then the large hand is wound once around the clock, resting on the number 12.
Significance
Once the clock is adjusted and the time is set, the Sessions clock should make a ticking, rhythmic sound. If the Sessions clock is antique, maintenance will keep the clock on the correct time and in good working order.
