Develop an eye for antiques by studying the history of various antiques. It is a good idea to start studying certain pieces of antiques that you find interesting such as clothing, furniture, etc. so that you can become familiar with the antiques that interest you and you will be able to spot them easily when in stores.
Look at certain details or "logo prints" or markings on items. They can give you clues of whether an item is considered an antique or not. Usually, true antiques will have an engraving of a person's name or a certain type of marking.
Go to resale shops or thrift stores. You will be amazed at what you might find at these stores.
Watch antique shows. You can learn quite a bit from these programs on how to spot antiques because not all antiques have markings on them but because they were created in a specific day in time, they are now considered very valuable antiques.
