Things You'll Need
Instructions
Place a two-way humidification device in your humidor. If it already comes with a humidifier, add a propylene glycol activation solution to the humidifier until it is saturated. Don't add distilled water, as it may create too much humidity. Dry off the humidifier and place it on a paper towel for an hour to ensure there is no dripping, and then put it back in the humidor. A humidifier is basically a plastic container, with holes, that is filled with foam or sponge.
Fill a small dish or cup with water and put it in your humidor.
Monitor the humidity of your humidor over the next 24 hours, using a hygrometer. Many humidors have one built in. Once the humidity is between 65 and 70 percent, you can start storing cigars in your humidor. You can also remove the dish of water at this point. It may take between two days and two weeks to reach this level of humidity.
