How to Store Cigars in Plastic Containers

Because cigars are natural, they are sensitive to their environment. You can store your cigars safely without the expense and hassle of a humidor. As long as you take measures to ensure there is enough moisture available, the creation of a "tupperdor"-- what cigar aficionados call the use of a resealable food container converted into a cigar storage container -- can be an ideal alternative for preserving cigars.

Things You'll Need

  • Plastic food container with an air-tight seal
  • Small kitchen sponge or green plant oasis
  • Bottle of humidor juice (optional)
  • Ziplock bag
  • Cigar box or other lidded box smaller than the container

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Tupperware container. Wet the sponge (or the oasis) with either warm water or humidor juice.

    • 2

Place whichever dampened product you chose in a ziplock baggie. Leave it open, and place it on one side of the container.

    • 3

Place your smaller cedar box containing the cigars on the other side of the Tupperware container.

    • 4

Open frequently for fresh air and to re-dampen the sponge or oasis as needed, a minimum of once a week.
