Instructions
Place the cigars in an airtight container. Use a candy jar, food container, coffee can or any enclosed storage device with a tight-fitting lid. The tight container will humidify your cigars during storage.
Keep the storage container out of the sun. Exposure to sunlight will cause your cigars to dry, even while enclosed in a container. Sunlight also discolors cigar wrappers.
Exchange the air in your storage container. Every few days, open and close the container to refresh the air inside it. This prevents the build-up of stale air, which will cause your cigars to become dry and stale.
Inspect your cigars regularly. Look for splitting and cracking, which is a sign that your cigars have become too dry. Expansion at the tip of the cigar is a sign of excess moisture. Inspecting your cigars allows you to monitor them for freshness.
