Things You'll Need
Instructions
Place the box of cigars in a plastic container, and store it in a place where direct sunlight does not reach it. Open the container about once a month, to check the moisture of your cigars. Keep the lid slightly open in one corner to allow a small amount of airflow. This will help keep your cigars fresh and free of mold.
Place the box in a large zip storage bag. Add a few drops of water to a small piece of paper towel, and put it in the bag. This helps maintain humidity inside the bag, while preserving the cigars. Keep the bag out of direct sunlight.
Place your box of cigars in a humidor. Humidors replicate the warm, humid environment cigars need to maintain their forms and flavors. Though it is one of the more expensive methods of storing cigars in their original boxes, it is a very effective means of preserving them. To test whether or not your humidor is of adequate quality, let its lid drop from a height of three inches. If the lid doesn't immediately slam shut, but instead creates a burst of air as it drops, the humidor can create an air-tight seal on your cigars.
