  • Distilled water
  • Small glass container (shot glass is a good size)

Instructions

    • 1

Place Spanish cedar on the bottom of the container, with a shot glass full of distilled water and a hydrometer on top of the cedar.

    • 2

Check the hygrometer periodically until it reads 72 percent humidity. You have now rehumidified the cedar.

    • 3

Activate the humidor humidifier by adding distilled water.

    • 4

Take out the glass with distilled water, and replace it with cigars and the humidifier.

    • 5

Add small amounts of distilled water when hygrometer readings drops. Maintain the humidity at 68 to 72 percent. Cigar damage can occur if the level rises or falls from this range. In addition, the humidor should be be kept at a temperature of 65 to 70 degrees F.
