How to Change a Coin Bezel

A coin bezel is a circular mount for a coin. It gives the coin a decorative or simple border and connects the coin to a hook, where the coin can be suspended from a chain. This allows the coin to be hung from the chain and displayed or worn as a piece of jewelry. If you wish to remove a coin from its bezel and insert it into a new one, work carefully to avoid damage to the coin or the bezels.

Jeweler's flathead screwdriver
New bezel

Instructions

  Open the new bezel by inserting the tip of the jeweler's flathead screwdriver into the screw at the top of the bezel and removing the small screw there.

  Set the screw aside. The screw held the ring of the bezel closed, and there is now a gap.

  Open the old bezel by removing the screw using the jeweler's flathead screwdriver.

  Remove the coin from the bezel by gently opening the bezel, which allows the coin to fall out.

  Set the coin in the new bezel, lining up the coin's edges with the edge of the bezel.

  Close the bezel around the edges of the coin, ensuring a good fit.

  Reinsert the screw into the bezel and tighten it.
