Things You'll Need
Instructions
Wrap the silver dollar in a layer of non-buffered acid-free tissue paper. Cut out 12-by-12-inch squares of acid-free tissue paper using scissors. Gently wrap the silver dollar in a layer of tissue paper, being careful to cover the entire surface of the coin. Lay the coin in the center of the tissue paper and fold over all four sides of the tissue paper to enclose the coin.
Put the wrapped coin in a resealable bag, pushing excess air out of the bag in order to keep contaminants out of the bag while the silver dollar is being stored. Be careful not to overload a resealable bag. Only about five coins should be stored in a quart-sized bag. Lay all the coins flat within the bag to store them.
Insert the silver dollar into a non-acidic, plastic-lined cardboard container. These containers are lined with a special plastic which does not interact with silver and which will keep the silver dollar sealed off from acidic material and moisture. These affordable storage containers can be found at any coin collector shop or website.
Store silver dollars in specially lined coin or jewelry boxes. These boxes have a special lining which will prevent tarnishing. Wrap acid-free tissue completely around the silver dollar and lay it flat in the lined box.
