Flying Eagle Cent
U.S. coins were first minted in 1793. One copper coin only ever showed the American Eagle, which was the Flying Eagle cent, minted in 1857 and 1858.
Silver Dollar
The "Pieces of Eight" was America's first silver dollar and the first dollar coin circulated in the U.S. The coin was used throughout the British American Colonies in the early 1700's before a standard U.S. monetary unit was established. The Spanish American coin commonly is referred to in pirate legend.
Two-Cent Piece
The two-cent piece was only minted for 10 years, from 1864 to 1873. The coin was the first U.S. currency with the words "In God We Trust" incorporated into the design. Secretary of the Treasury, Salmon P. Chase was believed to have influenced the motto on the coin.
