American Numismatics Association
The American Numismatic Association is a federally chartered national nonprofit dedicated to education about and promotion of collecting money. The club has more than 33,000 members across the United States and local clubs in most states. The ANA has regional clubs, which may represent one state or several states in a region. Regional clubs offer wider education programs and arrange large-scale meets, swaps and other coin collecting activities. The ANA also has national specialty clubs for people interested in particular types of coins, tokens, hobo nickels, paper money and books and other literature about numismatics.
Ancient Coin Collectors Guild
The Ancient Coin Collectors Guild is a coin collecting association specializing in the collecting of ancient coins and the legal issues surrounding the trade. The organization serves as a lobbying organization that seeks to allow the free importation and trade of coins from anywhere and any time period. It also seeks to establish ethical guidelines among ancient coin dealers to prevent the theft or looting of ancient sites, while allowing collectors access and study of ancient coins. The organization also supports auctions and meetings of ancient coin collectors and dealers.
International Association of Numismatics
The International Association of Numismatics is an association of professional numismatics and coin dealers that seeks to support the trade of coins and other collectible money while maintaining the highest ethical standards. The association is particularly focused on dealers preventing the sale of counterfeit coins. The association is made up of 114 firms located on five continents and in 23 countries. The association was founded in 1951 and membership is oriented toward businesses, not individual collectors. Membership requires the support of three existing members and a proven record of expertise and ethical business practices.
American Numismatic Society
The American Numismatic Society is an organization dedicated to the study of coins, currency, medals and tokens from all societies and cultures. The organization is for those with a serious interest or scholars and professional dealers. The organization operates as a research museum. It has a collection of more than 800,000 objects, including coins and numismatic literature. The society opens its collection to serious scholars. It publishes "ANS Magazine" three times per year for members.
