How to Clean Ancient Roman Coins

Such an old item must be treated gently so no permanent scratches are left on the surface, which can hurt the value of the coins. While there a few cleaning methods that can be applied to older coins like this, soaking them in soapy water is an easy, effective way to get the job done.
