How to Roll Quarters

If you have collected a lot of quarters, you may be tempted to use one of those coin counting machines that have popped up at grocery stores. After all, they're quick and easy. Basically, you dump your quarters in, the machine counts them, deducts a fee, and turns your coins into cash. Instead of paying a machine to count your coins, you can easily count and wrap your quarters yourself and save some money.

Instructions

Place your coins on a large surface, such as on a bed, according to Theunderstory. Spread the quarters out in a single layer. Begin by counting out two handfuls of 10 coins. Place each handful into a separate pile on the bed. Continue counting the quarters and making piles of 10. Set any leftover coins aside.

Grab a quarter wrapper. Open it up by pushing the creased sides together. Fold the wrapper flat, then open it back up. Pick up a pile of the quarters. Work them in your hands until they look like a roll of coins. Pick up the wrapper and hold it between your fingers.

    • 3

Place your middle finger into the bottom of the wrapper. Slowly pour the roll of quarters into the paper, according to Theunderstory. To turn the coins so they lay flat together, pour the quarters partially back out of the wrapper. Adjust them and slide them back in the wrapper.

    • 4

Add a total of four piles of quarters into the wrapper so there are 40 quarters in a roll. Remove your finger and fold the bottom of the paper over. Hold the roll together with one hand while you push the sides of the paper to the middle. Repeat this process with the top to seal the roll of quarters.
