Things You'll Need
Instructions
Have your coins professionally graded before selling them. The two most widely respected grading services are PCGS and NGC. Buyers will be more reassured when buying coins registered by these services. This is particularly useful when trying to sell coins via mail or the Internet.
Get offers from more than one dealer if that is who you are trying to sell to. Offers can vary greatly from one dealer to the next, depending on the needs of the dealer and your willingness to sell your coins. Weigh the offers so that you can get the most money for your coins.
Attend a coin show. Selling coins at a coin show is a more convenient way to shop them around before making a decision. You'll be able to showcase your coins to several dealers in one place. Grading services are sometimes offered at larger coin shows.
Sell coins online or by mail. Thousands of coins are sold on websites such as eBay, while "Coin World" and other magazines offer classified advertising opportunities. Having your coins professionally graded is practically a must if you choose this avenue.
Contact an auction house if you have extremely rare or high priced coins. You will, of course, pay a commission, but you'll know that your coins are being seen by highly qualified buyers.
