2007
The George Washington coin was first issued on February 15, 2007. John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison followed in the inaugural year of the collection. The 2007 coins feature a president̵7;s name and profile, presidential order and years of service on the face. The coin edges were engraved with ̶0;In God We Trust̶1; and the year the coin was issued.
2008
James Monroe started 2008̵7;s scheduled releases on February 14th. John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren were released next, in that order. Like the 2007 coins, the $1 tributes issued in 2008 had the president̵7;s name, image, order and years of service on the face with ̶0;In God We Trust̶1; and the year of issuance on the coin edge.
2009
William Henry Harrison graced the first presidential $1 coin placed into circulation in 2009 on February 19. John Tyler, James K. Polk and Zachary Taylor completed the quartet. Starting with 2009 designs, the ̶0;In God We Trust̶1; engraving that had been featured on coin edges was moved to the bottom of the coin face with the year. The edges were made smooth and free of writing.
2010
Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan and Abraham Lincoln are listed for 2010 circulation, and their preview images reveal them to be designed similarly to the coins issued in 2009. Although their exact release dates were not published on the U.S. Mint website as of January 2010, previews of all four coins were available.
2011-2016
As of early 2010, coins are planned for quarterly release through 2016 with 38th president Gerald Ford.At that time, only former president Ronald Reagan was deceased out of the group of men who served in positions 39 through 44, so including him on the coin schedule would have meant skipping over living former president Jimmy Carter.
