Very Fine
If the hair over the eye of Liberty and the feathers of the eagle are well worn, then the dollar is in very fine, or VF-20, condition. The coin would be valued at $10 to $15.
Extremely Fine
To be considered in EF-40, or extremely fine condition, the hair lines over the brow and ear of Liberty must be strongly visible. The eagle's outside and top feathers should also be mostly visible. Examples in this condition are worth $12 to $16.
About Uncirculated
For a 1922 silver dollar to be rated about uncirculated, or AU-50, there must be only the slightest trace of wear on Liberty and the eagle. There can be some contact marks, but most of the luster should still remain. Values are in the $15 to $20 range.
Uncirculated
The coin should show no trace of wear and have a full mint luster to be considered uncirculated, or MS-60. It can have some stains or surface marks. Prices are generally in the $20 to $30 range.
Choice Uncirculated
The coin can have only a few contact marks or blemishes, but must be otherwise perfect with almost a full mint luster to be considered MS-63, or choice uncirculated. Some mint marks carry a premium at this grade. A 1922 silver dollar in MS-63 condition is worth about $35 to $40 if minted in Philadelphia, while those minted in Denver are worth $50 to $60 and those minted in San Francisco are valued at $70 to $80. The mint mark is located on the reverse below the "One" in "One Dollar." D is for Denver and S is for San Francisco. Coins minted in Philadelphia have no mint mark.
