Flowing Hair
The first silver dollars were minted in 1794 and 1795, and were marked by the flowing hair of Liberty on the front. This coin is extremely rare and is valued at around $650,000 in uncirculated condition as of August 2009. Even in well-worn shape the coin is worth $30,000.
Draped Bust
This design was in circulation from 1795 to 1804 and is generally worth $40,000 to $60,000 in the best conditions, and $500 to $1,000 in the worst conditions.
Seated Liberty
The seated Liberty silver dollar was minted from 1840 to 1873. In uncirculated condition, most years are valued in the $1,500 to $3,000 range. Varieties that are well worn are worth $200 to $400.
Morgan Dollar
The Morgan silver dollar, named for its designer, is the most common silver dollar, and varieties in worn conditions such as very fine are valued in the $20 to $30 range. Morgan silver dollars in uncirculated condition are usually sold for $40 to $80.
Peace Dollar
This was the last Liberty silver dollar minted from 1921 to 1935. Very fine examples are sold for $12 to $30, while uncirculated varieties are usually valued at $25 to $100, with the later and rarer years being the most valuable.
