Designer
The Peace Dollar was designed by Anthony de Francisci; its name was applied because the word "peace" was printed below the eagle on the reverse side of the coin.
Minted Dates
The Peace Dollar first entered production in 1921. After production ceased in 1928, the coin was reintroduced from 1934 to 1935.

Identify the minting location by letter: "D" means the coin was minted in Denver, Colorado; "S" means San Francisco, California; and no letter means Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Rarest Varieties
A small number of 1921 Peace Dollars were printed and immediately sealed to prevent circulation. In 2006, these coins were valued up to $50,000 each.
Fun Fact
The Peace Dollar was minted again in 1965 with the date of the coin appearing as 1964; however, all coins of this series were melted down before they entered circulation.
