How to Buy a Vietnamese Coin

Look online for dealers. However, beware of fakes and overpriced pieces of glitter that may be worthless or at least not worth what you might pay for them. If you shop primarily online for coins, then join a blog where you can vet the vendors and hear stories from other buyers about their buying experiences from various websites. Blogging communities also offer opportunities for trading that might be hard to find in your local coin collecting community.

Visit Veteran's facilities if you don't know any Vietnam veterans. A number of coins were issued to the American military during the Vietnam War. These coins were sold to the Americans so they could have a viable currency while they were in country. Many vets saved some coins and may be willing to sell them.

Buy Vietnamese coins from many street vendors in Vietnam when you travel. While you can exchange your money at a bank, they do accept American cash and sell their coins, both historic and current for a small profit. Coins make good gifts that are easy to transport home.
