Coin shows are great opportunities for buyers, sellers and dealers alike. Buyers get the chance to browse a veritable warehouse of coins for sale while dealers have an audience that is ready to buy. Private sellers can present their coins to dealers who may be interested in purchasing them. As if that weren't reason enough to attend a local coin show, there are often exhibits and even seminars that every attendee can enjoy. Local coin shows really do have something for everyone.

  Find out where and when coin shows are being held in your area. Consult a good Internet guide such as Coin Shows.com (see Resources below) or check your local newspaper's Living section.

  Know in advance what you want to buy or sell at the show. Coming to a coin show armed with an iron-clad plan will help you stay focused and prevent you from buying things you don't need or selling things you actually wanted to keep.

  Plan to stay for several hours. Unless you are just coming to look at coins and not conduct business, you will need ample time to search dealers' tables for what you want and negotiate with those dealers on prices. If you are selling, you will also need sufficient time to talk with dealers and show them what you have to offer.
