Things You'll Need
Instructions
Look through loose change around your house, in your car and at work. See how many quarters you can find. If any are the new U.S. State Quarters, your collection has already started!
Take your older quarters to the bank and ask the teller if they have any U.S. State Quarters. They will usually check if they are not too busy. You can trade your old quarters for new ones and even withdraw the U.S. State Quarters from your account.
Trade quarters with family and friends. Many people have at least one state quarter in their loose change.
Sort your coins to see which states you are missing. The U.S. Mint has a list of all the quarters released so far. If you have multiple quarters of one state, you can trade them for other states at coin collector's store. You can also buy the quarters you do not have from the U.S. Mint, collector's stores and online.
Store your quarters in a safe place. You can buy a U.S. State Quarter folder at many department stores or through the U.S. Mint. Individual plastic storage cases can also be purchased at the U.S. Mint or at a coin collector's shop.
