Instructions
Plug in the iron. Examine the jersey tag for care instructions or material. Set the iron to the ideal settings for the jersey material. Once the iron has warmed, iron the jersey to remove wrinkles. Fold the jersey in the manner it will be displayed within the case, such as the back displayed with sleeves folded inward. Iron the fold marks to create creases. Unplug the iron.
Remove the glass or clear plastic from the shadowbox. Pull out the matte board.
Set the jersey atop the matte board, folding the jersey for optimal display. Once pleased with the layout, pin the jersey down with stainless steel framing pins. Attach the pins to the back (non-visible) portion of the jersey in a manner that they cause the least damage to the jersey itself. Pin along hems, seams or other not-so-noticeable areas.
Thread the needle with a couple feet of thread. Knot the thread. Stitch the jersey to the matte board, starting behind the matte board and running through the non-visible portions of the jersey, such as the back of a seam or hem. Run a few loops of thread through each stitch to secure the jersey, then tie a knot in the thread on the back side of the matte board. Repeat this near all corners of the jersey and in other key places to hold it intact.
Place the matte board containing the jersey back in the shadow box. Replace the glass or clear covering on the matte board.
